Sylvester Kirk was thrilled and relieved by the impressive victory of his juvenile Brian at Newbury, following up on his fine effort at Royal Ascot. After showing promise in his first two races, Brian stepped up to Listed class at Ascot and finished a commendable third. At Newbury, Brian won easily by five and a half lengths.
Kirk expressed his delight with Brian's progress, noting that the horse is gaining a following with his name. He mentioned that Brian handled the softer ground well and that winning at their local track was special. While Brian is entered in the Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes at Newmarket, Kirk is taking his time to consider future plans.
The trainer mentioned the possibility of a trip to France and acknowledged that Brian may be challenging to place in races due to his size. Despite this, Kirk highlighted various options for Brian in sales races and restricted race finals. He emphasised the importance of finding the right race for Brian to continue his development.
