Kinross will be leading the list for the Goodwood Festival from Ralph
Ralph Beckett’s team for the Qatar Goodwood Festival will be spearheaded by the seasoned sprinter Kinross, who is in pursuit of his third World Pool Lennox Stakes title.
At seven years old, Kinross has proven to be a reliable source of prize money for the stable, having won 10 races—including eight at the Group level—accumulating nearly £2 million in earnings.
Kinross first clinched the Lennox Stakes in 2021, only to finish a narrow second the following year, losing by just a neck to Andrew Balding’s Sandrine. Last season, he made a triumphant return to the seven-furlong Group Two, reclaiming his title by the same slender margin. This year, he aims to replicate that success, as Beckett also seeks to defend his title as a leading trainer at the meeting.
Beckett’s Goodwood lineup may also feature Sonny Liston, who looks to bounce back from a disappointing run in the Summer Mile at Ascot as he considers entering the Qatar Sussex Stakes.
Beckett, who won the Qatar Lillie Langtry Stakes in 2015 with future St Leger champion Simple Verse, has two potential contenders this year: River Of Stars, who placed second last season, and Oxford Comma, who has been undefeated in her two starts this year.
