King’s Gambit’s next port of call is Sky Bet York Stakes
Following his disappointing defeat at Royal Ascot last week, King’s Gambit is now considering the Sky Bet York Stakes as his next race. The colt, trained by Harry Charlton, was expected to win the Hampton Court Stakes but finished second to Jayarebe despite a valiant effort.
Charlton praised Jayarebe for his victory and acknowledged that King’s Gambit faced obstacles during the race, hindering his chances to win. Despite the setback, Charlton remains proud of his horse and looks forward to his future races.
With an entry in the Group Two Princess of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket, King’s Gambit may also opt for the Sky Bet York Stakes on July 27 to seek redemption. Charlton will discuss the options with the owner, Mohammed Jaber, before making a final decision.
During the Royal Ascot meeting, Charlton had mixed emotions as his horses delivered solid performances, including a win with Hand Of God in the Golden Gates Stakes. Despite a narrow defeat with Kikkuli in the Jersey Stakes, Charlton remains optimistic about the future success of his talented horses. He also expressed excitement about King’s Gambit and Kikkuli’s potential in upcoming races.
