Kikkuli is set to compete for the BetVictor Hungerford Stakes

Kikkuli, Lake Forest, and Poet Master are among the 13 horses confirmed for the BetVictor Hungerford Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

Kikkuli, a Kingman colt and half-brother to the exceptional Frankel, narrowly missed out on victory at Royal Ascot, finishing second to Haatem in the Jersey Stakes. He was a strong favourite for Group One success in the Prix Jean Prat at Deauville but could only manage sixth place. The three-year-old is set to face older rivals for the first time at Group Two level this weekend.

Lake Forest, trained by William Haggas, could step up to seven furlongs after recent second-place finishes in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot and the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury.

Karl Burke's Elite Status defeated Lake Forest in the Hackwood Stakes, and Burke may also saddle Poet Master, who impressed with a win in the Group Two Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh in his last start.

Wathnan Racing has two potential runners: Ed Walker’s English Oak and Make Me King from Hamad Al Jehani’s stable. English Oak, who dominated the Buckingham Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, was a well-fancied runner but finished fourth in the Group Two Lennox Stakes at Goodwood recently.
