Joe Tizzard: The trainer anticipates seeing more British horses at the Grand National in the upcoming year
Eldorado Allen, the trainer from Somerset, is one of just five English competitors in the 34-runner field on Saturday.
In a field that was shrunk from 40 to 34 this year for safety concerns, the grey has odds of 66-1.
Tizzard stated: "British trainers aren't shying away from the Grand National,".
"At this time, we don't have any horses that meet the requirements to compete. That's all there is to it, and Ireland is full of them.
"It's swings and roundabouts, it's something that as English trainers we're conscious of and everybody's looking at it."
"If you look at the Cheltenham results and what horses ran there and what horses ran in the stay and chasers there, I think the tide will turn a little bit next year," he said on BBC Radio Somerset.
"I wouldn't say it's an immediate thing, there'll still be a lot of Irish horses, but I think there'll be more British horses next year."
During his eighteen-year career as a jockey, Tizzard placed fifth in the Grand National, and in 2022 his horse Fiddlerontheroof finished fifth in the race.
Eldorado Allen pulled up at the Cheltenham Festival last month, although he won the Denan Chase in 2022 and was fourth in the Coral Gold Cup in December.
"It's a race we've talked about with Eldorado Allen all season," Tizzard said.
"It would be unbelievable - I feel privileged to be part of this huge race, I feel privileged that we've got a horse good enough to run in it."
