Jockey Richie Deegan secured his first victory at Wexford

Jockey Richie Deegan secured his first victory for renowned point-to-point trainer Denis Murphy at Wexford today, guiding the trainer's Three By Two (9/1) to triumph in the final Treo Eile Handicap Chase.

The eight-year-old mare, who previously won the 2023 Ladies Cup over banks at the Punchestown festival, emerged victorious from a rating of 90, finishing 1.25 lengths ahead of Bearwithmenow.

Deegan, riding for Murphy for the fifth time, remarked, "I rode her the last day when I'd say the trip was a little bit sharp for her, and today's step back up in trip suited. She was in her comfort zone everywhere, and the easier ground helped too.”

“I do a bit of schooling for Denis, I know his sister Bernadette, brother Peter and their mother Kathleen well so it is nice to ride a winner for them, I live near to them, and they'll get a great kick out of that."
