Jockey Club paid tribute to the departing Nevin Truesdale

Nevin Truesdale has been the chief executive of the Jockey Club since April 2020. Before this role, he served as the chief financial officer and group finance director.

Prior to joining the Jockey Club, Truesdale worked at British Gas for nearly five years, holding various senior financial positions.

Truesdale will continue to lead the Jockey Club in the upcoming months, collaborating with the board of stewards and the executive team to ensure a smooth transition to his successor.

During his tenure, the Jockey Club has experienced growth across all revenue streams and secured new commercial partners for racing. The organisation has also expanded its customer base and digital platforms.

Truesdale has been instrumental in addressing key challenges in the racing sector. He led a petition to parliament against betting affordability checks and took action against illegal protest groups in 2023.

“The Jockey Club has a unique role,” Truesdale said, “as it operates solely to reinvest its earnings back into our sport. It has been a true privilege and the highlight of my career to work for and eventually lead this organisation over the past 11 years.

“Together, we have established strong foundations for the future, allowing my successor to continue growing the Jockey Club and ensuring it invests for the benefit of our sport and the communities it serves.”

Sandy Dudgeon, the senior steward of the Jockey Club, paid tribute to the departing Nevin Truesdale, praising his “outstanding contribution” to both the organisation and the horse racing industry.
