Jm Jungle secured a victory in Group Handicap

Jm Jungle improved on last year’s performance by winning the Symphony Group Handicap at York, providing a strong start to the Ebor meeting for the local team. Trained by John and Sean Quinn, the Malton-based sprinter secured a first prize of over £60,000.

After finishing third last year off a mark of 92, Jm Jungle dropped to a mark of 88 this season and had yet to win. Stepping up to a slightly longer trip than his usual five furlongs, he tracked the pace-setting top-weight Democracy Dilemma before Jason Hart urged him forward.

Jm Jungle swiftly took control and crossed the line three-quarters of a length ahead of the consistent Jordan Electrics, with Looking For Lynda in third.

John Quinn commented: “He finally got his luck today. He was narrowly beaten in this race last year from a stand’s side draw and didn’t have the best of luck at Goodwood. He also ran well in May despite a poor draw and was fourth in the Rockingham at the Curragh. The good draw and dry ground worked in his favour today. We’ll consider all the major sprint handicaps moving forward.”
