James needs to make the right decision before going to Ascot
With the strength and success of the Wathnan Racing crop in recent weeks, jockey James Doyle faces some tough decisions when it comes to choosing his mounts for the juvenile races at Royal Ascot. Five two-year-olds have impressed in the blue, gold, and red silks with wins in their debut races. The likes of Aesterius from Archie Watson's stable, Electrolyte from the same yard, Columnist and Catalyse from Richard Fahey, and Leovanni from Karl Burke have all shown promise.
Richard Brown, the racing manager for Wathnan, is pleased with the progress of the young horses but remains cautious about their Ascot participation. He acknowledges that anything can happen with horses and is focused on getting closer to the big event before making any final decisions. Brown highlights the unique qualities of each horse and the expertise of their trainers in preparing them for Ascot.
The goal for Wathnan Racing was to have a strong group of two-year-olds with the potential to compete at Ascot. With the success of their current crop, they are on track to achieve this goal. Brown mentions that there are more horses in contention for Ascot and that only those who are in peak condition will be considered for the prestigious races. The team is under no pressure to rush their horses and will only enter them if they are fully ready.
