James Doyle is scheduled to visit North Yorkshire with Shareholder
James Doyle is scheduled to visit North Yorkshire as preparations for Shareholder's Prix Morny campaign are finalised.
Karl Burke's colt, who was part of Wathnan Racing’s successful team at Royal Ascot, impressed with a dazzling performance in the Norfolk Stakes after a strong debut at Beverley. The €460,000 breeze-up purchase enjoyed a well-deserved rest following Ascot and is now set for a final workout with Wathnan’s retained rider ahead of the anticipated Group One race in Deauville on August 18.
Richard Brown, European racing adviser for the owners, reported that the Shareholder is in excellent condition. He noted that Karl Burke has observed the colt has grown and strengthened since Ascot, and the recent break has been beneficial. Brown confirmed that James Doyle will ride Shareholder in a workout this week, marking his first time on the colt since Ascot. If all goes smoothly, the Prix Morny will be the next target.
Brown also expressed excitement about Shareholder, stating that the colt has already delivered a standout performance. The team is eager to see how he performs over six furlongs and hopes he will demonstrate an electric turn of foot.
