Iroko Team's Dedicated Efforts Towards Accomplishing Festival Target

Iroko, under the guidance of trainers Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero, is poised to make an appearance at the highly anticipated Cheltenham Festival.

However, the decision regarding the specific race in which he will compete remains undecided. Last season, this six-year-old sensation made a name for himself by clinching victory in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle, donning the illustrious JP McManus racing colours.

Following his triumph, Iroko showcased his talent by securing a commendable third-place finish against Grade One competition at Aintree, trailing behind the formidable Apple Away. Subsequently, he embarked on his fencing journey at Warwick in early November, delivering an impeccable debut performance over a challenging two-and-a-half-miles.

Unfortunately, a setback in the form of an injury befell Iroko a few weeks later, initially casting doubt on his ability to partake in the remainder of the season. Astonishingly, his recovery outpaced expectations, enabling him to resume full training much sooner than anticipated. As a result, he has been nominated for the upcoming Arkle and Turners Novices' Chases, both slated to take place next month. While Oliver Greenall leans towards the Turners race, the influential presence of JP McManus, who also possesses the ante-post favourite Fact To File, may sway the final decision.

Expressing his optimism, Greenall stated, "I believe he will make it to Cheltenham. Although there won't be enough time for a preceding run, we will ensure his presence at the festival. As for the specific race, I am yet to finalise my decision. Personally, I am inclined towards the two-and-a-half-mile option. However, JP possesses alternative choices in that category, so we will need to carefully consider our options."

Greenall acknowledged the possibility of the Arkle becoming a more enticing prospect, given Iroko's exceptional performance in the three-mile Grade One novice hurdle at Aintree. Regardless, the trainer expressed his delight at Iroko's successful return and his current state of full training readiness.
