Inspirational Story of Cody’s Wish to Be Made into a Heartwarming Film
The inspiring tale of American champion Cody’s Wish is set to be transformed into a film that promises to "touch hearts around the world."
Trained by Bill Mott and owned by Godolphin, Cody's Wish gained fame due to his special bond with Cody Dorman, who was born with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. The two first met when the Dorman family visited Gainsborough Farm Stud. The young colt, then a foal, approached Cody and rested his head in the boy’s lap, forging an unforgettable connection.
Cody’s Wish would go on to achieve remarkable success on the racetrack, winning 11 of his 16 races, including back-to-back victories in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile and five Grade One titles.
Tragically, after witnessing Cody's Wish to defend his title at Santa Anita in November 2023, Cody Dorman passed away while travelling home from California to Kentucky.
The film will be written by Jake Crane and directed by Jeff Celentano, who will co-produce alongside Warren Ostergard and Mark Ciardi. Celentano and Ostergard previously collaborated on the successful baseball drama *The Hill*. Ostergard expressed, "The success of *The Hill* demonstrated that millions of people are craving family-friendly films. Enliven Content was created to bring true, heartfelt stories to life, and we’re honoured to present Cody’s Wish as our first original movie. This film will resonate with audiences around the world."
Kelly Dorman, Cody's father, remarked, "As the story of Cody’s Wish gained traction, everyone we spoke to said, ‘This will be a movie someday.’ We’re incredibly thankful to Enliven Content for capturing the remarkable bond between our son Cody and his best friend, Cody’s Wish."
