In preparation for the 2024 flat season, Owen Burrows launched his stable tour

Achieving the ideal combination of promising young horses and experienced older ones can be quite a challenge for Flat trainers. However, Owen Burrows has successfully put together a flawless mix in his stable for the upcoming 2024 season.

After bidding farewell to a reliable and accomplished horse, Hukum, at the conclusion of the previous season, the Lambourn trainer now has two contenders, Anmaat and Alflaila, who have the potential to step up and shine on the grandest stage.

In addition to a number of thrilling three-year-olds, led by the impressive Alyanaabi, who finished as the runner-up in last year's Dewhurst Stakes, and a group of high-priced two-year-olds that are showing great promise, it's clear why Burrows is filled with anticipation for the upcoming months.

He mentioned that the prize money he received last year was the highest he had ever earned. However, he acknowledged that Hukum played a significant role in that achievement, and he understands that he cannot depend on Hukum anymore.

"Our earnings this season may not match the impressive £800,000 we won in a single day last year, which is a rare occurrence. However, considering the number of horses we currently have, I aim to achieve between 35 and 40 victories."

Hopefully, Alflaila and Anmaat will show improvement this season since they had limited appearances in the previous year. This year's team of three-year-olds has the potential to be the strongest I've ever had. On paper, the two-year-olds look incredibly promising, possibly the most talented group I've had in years. However, their true abilities will only be revealed on the racecourse.

"This season, I have acquired nine fresh owners, and I also have a few orders for the breeze-up sales. This is all very promising."
