Immediately after the Irish Grand National, Ted Walsh was praised for his "great sporting gesture"

Ted Walsh received high praise for a remarkable display of sportsmanship after the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse.

The trainer came within reach of claiming Ireland's most lucrative chase for a second occasion, as Any Second Now secured the runner-up position to Intense Raffles in the 3m5f competition.

Walsh was one of the initial individuals to offer congratulations to victorious trainer Tom Gibney following the race. This moment was captured on television, and fans expressed their admiration for the 73-year-old on social media.

Someone mentioned: "Impressive display of sportsmanship from Ted Walsh, the trainer of the second-place horse, at Fairyhouse for the Irish Grand National, where Tom Gibney emerged victorious."

Many people praised Walsh's exceptional training performance, noting that Any Second Now was vying to be the oldest horse to win the race since Brown Lad in 1978.

To be fair to Ted Walsh, he takes good care of his select few horses, dating back to the days of Commanche Court. It's impressive that Any Second Now is being sent out to race at the age of 12. Quite a remarkable feat!
