Hot Fuss Targets Finale Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow
Hot Fuss, an impressive winner at Sandown, is set to take on tougher competition in the Finale Juvenile Hurdle at Chepstow on December 27.
The Tom Dascombe-trained three-year-old, rated 95 on the Flat, transitioned to hurdling this autumn and showed promise on debut, finishing second to East India Dock at Wincanton. That form gained significant credibility when East India Dock dominated a Grade Two race at Cheltenham in November.
Hot Fuss confirmed his potential at Sandown on Friday, securing a convincing three-and-a-half-length victory as the 4-9 favourite under David Bass.
Trainer's Confidence in Hot Fuss
Dascombe expressed high expectations for his charge, noting his strong Flat pedigree and adaptability to hurdles:
“To be honest, I expected him to win at Wincanton. He was beaten just over a length in the Chesham and a few lengths in the Acomb – he’s a good horse. He jumps great and has taken to hurdling really well.”
Looking ahead, the trainer is optimistic about the horse’s future:
“We’ll go to Chepstow for the Finale Hurdle, and then I’ll probably be persuaded to run him at Cheltenham. After that, I’d like to aim for the Chester Cup consolation race back on the Flat, but we’ll focus on Chepstow for now.”
With his strong Sandown performance and promising trajectory, Hot Fuss is a name to watch in this season's juvenile hurdle division.
