Honeysuckle preparing to embrace motherhood next month

Anticipation is growing as the public eagerly awaits the impending arrival of Honeysuckle's first foal.

Owned by Kenny Alexander and trained by Henry de Bromhead, she was one of the most beloved and successful National Hunt racemares in history. She triumphed four times at the Cheltenham Festival, including two remarkable victories in the prestigious Champion Hurdle, conquering the famous hill with sheer brilliance.

Her farewell came in 2023 when she clinched her second Grade One Mares' Hurdle at the renowned event, leaving the crowd at Cheltenham astounded by her tenacity in a thrilling battle with Love Envoi.

Now, all attention has shifted to her role as a broodmare. Having been impregnated by Walk In The Park, Honeysuckle is approaching her due date in April, causing a mix of excitement and nerves among everyone involved.

As the racing manager, Peter Molony, shared: “She’s about three weeks off and I’ve been told she is beginning to make a bit of a bag – it’s very exciting and there’s going to start being a few sleepless nights”.
