Henderson informed that Constitution Hill has undergone wind surgery

Nicky Henderson has announced that Constitution Hill has undergone wind surgery as he prepares for the upcoming season with his star hurdler.

The seven-year-old, undefeated in all eight of his starts, managed only one appearance last season, triumphing in his second Christmas Hurdle at Kempton on Boxing Day.

Constitution Hill was unable to defend his Champion Hurdle title at the Cheltenham Festival due to a respiratory issue, and a planned return at Punchestown was thwarted when he was hospitalised with suspected colic.

However, Henderson shared a positive update on Constitution Hill’s recovery after he returned from his summer break in July. The horse has since had a minor operation and is gearing up for a comeback in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle on November 30.

In a statement on Twitter, the Seven Barrows trainer said, "We had a fantastic day yesterday with a large gathering here for National Racehorse Week. Altior, who is enjoying a wonderful retirement at Mick and Chloe Fitzgerald’s, came to visit. He loved seeing his fans again and looked absolutely stunning.  Jonbon and Constitution Hill were understandably very popular with the enthusiastic crowd. Constitution Hill is in particularly good shape. Though he is still a bit burly from his summer break, his training is ramping up for his planned return to the Fighting Fifth. He had a wind operation a few weeks ago, which we hope will benefit him, and Jonbon is looking magnificent as he prepares to start his new campaign in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham on November 17, followed by the Tingle Creek, both of which he won last year."
