Henderson: Being able to call Constitution Hill home is great
After a near-colic incident, CONSTITUTION HILL is back in Nicky Henderson's yard. The Horse will not attend the Punchestown Festival.
His superstar hurdler, Seven Barrows, was reportedly rushed to a veterinary facility with symptoms of colic, according to the horse's manager. A "few traumatic days" were what the handler called it when working with the undefeated gelding.
Henderson gave an encouraging update, saying that Constitution Hill is back at the Lambourn yard for rehabilitation. The 2023 Champion Hurdle victor, however, needs a long nap.
We will not face State Man, winner of the Cheltenham Festival last month, until next term.
When Constitution Hill returned to Seven Barrows after its arduous voyage, Henderson was overjoyed.
The patient felt well enough to return to regular feeding and even enjoyed some time spent grazing outside in the sunlight.
Despite his easy Boxing Day victory in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton, an insufficient scope prevented him from competing at Cheltenham. He was unable to defend his Champion Hurdle crown last month because of a respiratory ailment.
