Hamish Triumphs in Finale Stakes

William Haggas' beloved Hamish once again brought pride to his connections with a commanding victory in the Curragh On Course Bookmakers Finale Stakes. The seasoned eight-year-old, already a winner of eight Group Three titles, entered the race after an impressive run in the Prix du Conseil de Paris, where he finished a close half-length behind the King George victor, Goliath.

Dropping in class to Listed level and sent off as the 10-11 favourite under Richard Kingscote, Hamish more than lived up to expectations, claiming an effortless five-length win. Reflecting on the performance, Kingscote remarked, "This is exactly what we know Hamish is capable of. We had a perfect trip from a good draw. Mr Haggas asked me to keep him handy but not to lead too early, and he responded beautifully. He’s been a wonderful servant, and the Haggas family holds him in the highest regard."

Meanwhile, Mark Fahey’s Rhythm King captured the Curragh On Course Bookmakers Premier Handicap. Ridden by Dylan Browne McMonagle at 14-1, the four-year-old gelding delivered a determined half-length victory, building on a recent success.

Fahey shared his admiration, saying, "Rhythm King is incredibly tough and genuine. I wasn’t sure if today would suit him, as he often wins around a bend, but everything aligned perfectly. It’s a fantastic win for Claire and Andrew Lennon, his owner-breeders, and he’s certainly one to watch for next season."
