Green secured a victory at Leopardstown

Trained by Jessica Harrington, Green Impact lived up to his status as the favourite by securing victory in the opening Frank Conroy Irish EBF Maiden at Leopardstown.

Having finished as the runner-up on his debut at the Curragh last month, the colt was sent off as the 11/8 favourite with Shane Foley riding.

He began prominently from the stalls, keeping close to Glen To Glen for much of the race, before being urged forward as they approached the straight.

Taking the lead with two furlongs to go, Green Impact showcased a strong finish in the final furlong, crossing the line a length and a half ahead of the Ballydoyle newcomer Delacroix.

“It's great to get that, he is a lovely horse. He's the first horse that Marc Chan has ever bred, so he's very excited,” said Jessica Harrington. He's a very laid-back horse, a big horse, and he's probably a little bit on the weak side still. We'll give him a bit of time, and we probably won't be going anywhere in a hurry. There are plenty of mile races in the autumn. He's got some entries. We'll see how he comes out of this and goes from there. Whatever he does now, he's going to get better.”
