Great Generation to face one more contest before end of the season

Great Generation could wrap up her season in the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket after returning to form with a win at Doncaster on Sunday.

Having previously secured victory in the Group Three Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield, Marco Botti’s three-year-old had faced tougher competition, finishing fourth in the Summer Stakes at York and trailing last in the Group One Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville.

Dropping back to Group Three for the Sceptre Stakes during the St Leger Festival, she showcased her true potential with a determined win.

Botti commented, "Her run in France was unexpectedly poor, but we know she’s a quality filly. The ground at Doncaster was acceptable; any softer and we might have struggled. Carrying a penalty, she handled it well. A stiff six or seven furlongs seems to suit her best, and there’s more to come. With decent ground needed, the Challenge Stakes at Newmarket looks like her only option before the season ends. We won't be heading to France. She’ll likely stay in training next season, and we hope for a strong campaign next year."
