Graham Lee became "humbled" as a result of the racing club proposal

A new racing club was founded on the 20th anniversary of Graham Lee winning the Grand National on Amberleigh House to raise money for him after his November fall at Newcastle left him with life-changing injuries.

The 48-year-old had a stellar riding career in both codes. He rode Trip To Paris to win the Grand National and the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.

Phil Hawthorne's Good Racing Company launched the Graham Lee Racing Club and Rob Burrow Racing Club.

They bought We've Got This, a two-year-old filly named after Lee's wife Becky's social media post following the accident.

Lee's daughter Amy and son Robbie have led the fundraising, with Robbie designing the club's logo around Lee's favourite number, 17, Amberleigh House's Aintree number, and the cost, £17, to join. Amy set up the initial Just Giving page.

She said: "It's nice that something so awful becomes so positive. I adore meeting dad's friends because everyone has such fascinating tales and wants to assist. It's nice to make something positive.

We started a Just Giving page for Dad to raise £100, but last week, it reached £200,000, which is ridiculous—I never anticipated that.
