Gordon Elliott Cautions Against High Expectations for Berlais
Renowned trainer Gordon Elliott appears to be in a commanding position ahead of the highly anticipated William Hill Boyne Hurdle, scheduled to take place at Navan this Sunday.
The Grade 2 contest is set to witness the comeback of Sire Du Berlais, the reigning champion of last season's Stayers' Hurdle. Following his impressive third-place finish at Punchestown last April, Elliott has cautioned that the talented gelding will undoubtedly exhibit considerable improvement in this upcoming race.
In addition to Sire Du Berlais, Elliott's formidable stable is likely to feature several other contenders, including the likes of Beacon Edge, Delta Work, Farouk D'alene, and Galvin. The trainer's formidable presence in the race further solidifies his prospects for success in the Boyne Hurdle. “We're planning on running them all, for a lot of them it's a stepping stone towards Cheltenham,” shared Elliott with the journalists.
“Sire Du Berlais doesn't really come good until he gets the sun on his back and I wouldn't be expecting too much from him on Sunday.”
“Hopefully he runs a respectable race and we go from there. We're looking forward to it.”
