Marco Botti sees the Princess of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday as the ideal race for Giavellotto to prepare for the Irish St Leger.
The five-year-old recently won his second Yorkshire Cup and is focused on the Curragh Group One. Despite some rain, Botti is willing to let Giavellotto run in the one-mile-six-furlong race at Newmarket's July Course.
The plan is to campaign him at around a mile and six this year, with his main target being the Irish St Leger. Meanwhile, William Haggas’ horse Hamish is hoping for more rain as he aims for victory in the same race.
Time Lock, who struggled in her last outing, will be ridden by Ryan Moore this time. Last year’s St Leger runner-up Arrest, Outbox, and Maxi King complete the field.
