Giavellotto is getting prepared for the Comer Group International Irish St Leger
Marco Botti is pleased with his stable star Giavellotto as they prepare for the Comer Group International Irish St Leger next month.
The Newmarket-based trainer has always planned for the high-class stayer to compete at the Curragh. Giavellotto has been in excellent form this season, defending his Yorkshire Cup title in May and then winning the Princess of Wales’s Stakes at Newmarket after dropping down to a mile and a half.
Botti is now fine-tuning the five-year-old for his debut in Ireland, with hopes that the ground conditions will be favourable on September 15.
“He’s in great form and we’re very happy with him,” Botti said. “We have about a month before the Irish St Leger, but he seems to be in top shape. It’s always been the plan to race in Ireland, and unless the ground turns out to be very heavy, we’re not too concerned. He prefers good ground, so we’re hoping for favourable weather conditions.”
