Frodon aims at King George VI Chase

In the 2023 King George VI Chase at Kempton, the accomplished horse Frodon, trained by Paul Nicholls, is set to compete again. Frodon, notable for his 2020 victory in this prestigious Boxing Day race, aims to reclaim his title. Now at 11, Frodon has a distinguished history in the King George VI Chase, having secured fourth place in 2021 and third in 2022. A victory this year would align Frodon with other renowned 11-year-old winners like Desert Orchid, Kauto Star, and Edredon Bleu. The oldest champion of this race remains Southern Hero, who was 12 at the time of his win.

Frodon, the horse with the highest career prize earnings in the 2023 race, totaling £1,169,935, is expected to be ridden by regular jockey Bryony Frost. Frost, the first female to win this race, has been preparing Frodon with a strong performance in the Badger Beer Handicap Chase at Wincanton. With a track record of seven runs and three wins at Kempton, Frodon's experience and affinity for this racecourse make him a strong contender. The upcoming race will mark his 52nd career run, and he is considered a valuable bet for potentially securing a place once again in a race known for its unpredictability.
