Fellowes is willing to make an impact in the East’s Racing League

Every successful manager requires a reliable right-hand person, and Charlie Fellowes is determined to make an impact in the East’s Racing League plans alongside Chris Hughes, hoping to quiet the competition from other regions.

The East has faced challenges in making an impression in the six-week competition, finishing fifth last year under the legendary Frankie Dettori and only managing third place in 2022 under Rupert Bell, trailing the champions, Wales & The West, by over 130 points.

Now, with TV personality Hughes stepping into the role of East manager, he has enlisted the help of Fellowes, a Newmarket-based trainer, who is well-positioned to rally the team and encourage a stronger showing from the region known as the heart of racing.

Fellowes has embraced his role as assistant in preparation for the opening night at Yarmouth and believes the East boasts a formidable squad capable of surprising those who expect to see them at the bottom of the Racing League standings.

“We kind of haven’t been a fixture the last few years and when you are managing 28 individual trainers it can be not an easy task,” said Fellowes. I think previous managers of the team have been given a hospital pass. However, I feel the East has been united and things are as positive as they possibly can be ahead of the Racing League restarting. I think the strength of depth in trainers we have got should give us a very good squad to go to war with and nothing would give me as much pleasure as wiping the smug smiles off the likes of Chapman, Osborne and Blake who all have far too much to say themselves!”
