Fanshawe shall shorten the distance for his stable star
Ambiente Friendly is set to drop back in trip after finishing third in the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby. The son of Gleneagles had a strong run at Epsom before being outstayed by City Of Troy. At the Curragh, Los Angeles reversed the Epsom form to win, with Ambiente Friendly finishing third.
Trainer James Fanshawe is considering moving Ambiente Friendly to a shorter distance, where his turn of foot may be an advantage. He hopes to get him back to winning form before targeting the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot. Fanshawe praised the horse's improvement and praised the Gredley family for sticking to their Derby plans.
The second-place finisher, Sunway, impressed trainer David Menuisier in his first attempt at 12 furlongs. Menuisier is considering the St Leger as a future target for Sunway. Matsuri, trained by Roger Varian, finished a respectable fourth after a wide-margin victory in a novice event. Varian was pleased with Matsuri's performance and hopes to make future plans for the talented colt.
