Fabre sets Mqse De Sévigné to compete in the Prix Jean Romanet

André Fabre’s Mqse De Sévigné will aim to replicate her Deauville success from last year in the Prix Jean Romanet before her career finale in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Having won both the Prix Rothschild and Prix Jean Romanet last summer, she captured this year’s Rothschild with even greater ease. She will now return to 10 furlongs for the Prix Jean Romanet before making her sole attempt at a mile and a half in the Arc this October.

Fabre stated that while he’s unsure if she’s improving, being a year older seems to have helped her performance, as she won more comfortably this year without facing challenges. She'll race once more at Deauville before heading to the Arc, where she's used to the conditions.

He mentioned her pedigree makes it tough to predict her distance capability, although her half-brother won at longer distances. Fabre also has another Arc contender, Sosie, who placed third in the French Derby and won the Grand Prix de Paris. He plans to run Sosie in the Prix Niel at Longchamp as prep for the Arc.

Pensee Du Jour has a minor injury and will rest for a couple of months, making comparisons to previous Arc winners difficult. Junko, recently winning the Grand Prix de Chantilly, finished ahead of Goliath, who won the King George. Fabre noted Junko might skip races until later this year, potentially aiming for the Japan Cup or Hong Kong Cup.
