Fabre is going through the path towards the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with Sosie
Andre Fabre has decided to take Sosie on the traditional path towards the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. The Sea The Stars colt showed promise in the Prix du Jockey Club and looked even more impressive once moved up to a mile and a half.
In the Grand Prix de Paris on Saturday evening, Sosie showcased his potential by defeating Queen’s Vase winner Illinois and the previously undefeated Delius by two lengths. Now, Fabre has set his sights on the Prix Niel in September, a race he has won 11 times before, most recently in 2015 with New Bay.
“Sosie always looked like he wanted to run over a mile and a half, and he improved for it," said Fabre after securing his 14th Grand Prix de Paris victory. “He will run in the prep race that I use traditionally, the Prix Niel.”
With eight Arc victories to his name, Fabre is confident in Sosie's abilities. "We knew Illinois stayed well, but so did we and Sosie had a smart turn of foot. He’s a great looking horse, he’s a big horse who was always going to thrive, and he wasn’t 100 percent fit for the Jockey Club, so I expected him to improve,” Fabre explained.
