Explanations arise for lacklustre display of Broadway Boy

The Cheltenham Festival remains on the agenda despite Broadway Boy's disappointing performance at Warwick. The horse, trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies, was diagnosed with stomach ulcers after finishing behind Grey Dawning.

Despite this setback, Broadway Boy had a promising start to his career over fences, winning three out of his first four races. As a result, he was considered a strong contender for the upcoming Brown Advisory Novices' Chase. However, he faced challenges during the race, losing ground and finishing over 30 lengths behind the winner.

The decision regarding his next race, whether it will be the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham or the prestigious Grade One Brown Advisory, is still pending. Assistant trainer Willy Twiston-Davies stated that both options are being considered, and a final decision will be made closer to the race week.

Factors such as the performance of other horses and the condition of the ground will influence the choice. Despite Broadway Boy's recent health issues, including poor scoping and stomach ulcers, Twiston-Davies is confident that he is back on track and ready for future challenges.
