Enniskerry is now set to target Galway

Enniskerry is now set to target Galway following his third-place finish at Bellewstown last Thursday.

The versatile 10-year-old, known for his solid performances, including a commendable seventh place in last year's Galway Plate and a recent Flat victory at Listowel, entered Bellewstown as the 5/6 favourite under Barry Connell's guidance. However, a slow start hindered his chances, and he ultimately finished third behind Eagle's Way.

Reflecting on the race, Connell commented, "He was giving 12lb to a horse (Eagle's Way) that was rated the same as him, and he's not really a mile and half horse," Connell reflected. It kind of turned into a bit of a sprint, and he gave away eight lengths at the start, which wasn't like him, but these things can happen.”

Looking ahead, Connell outlined Enniskerry's next move, saying, "We'll probably head for the Amateur Handicap in Galway."
