Enemy Could Make Chester Their Next Stop on the Global Tour

Enemy's global adventures earlier this year have opened up the possibility of him competing in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Huxley Stakes at Chester's May Festival.

Ian Williams' top horse is entering his sixth season of training with the Alvechurch handler. He achieved his fifth victory out of 34 races by defeating the highly regarded Military Order in Southwell's Winter Derby Trial in January.

The horse that came in second place for Charlie Appleby's team provided a significant enhancement to that performance by winning the Winter Derby in the subsequent month. Additionally, Enemy showcased their remarkable skills by participating in two endurance races in the Middle East during 2023.

Following his second-place finish in Saudi Arabia's Red Sea Turf, narrowly losing to Aidan O'Brien's Tower Of London, he continued his journey to Meydan for the Dubai Gold Cup. There, he showed improvement from last year and finished a respectable seventh.

Now, let's focus on matters closer to home. Assuming Williams has fully recovered from his recent overseas efforts, he has set his sights on the 10-furlong Chester Group Two race on May 10 as the next opportunity for Enemy to showcase his skills on home turf.

He mentioned: "The adversary always relishes his journeys overseas, and he sprinted as commendably as one could anticipate given the circumstances. We would be delighted to welcome him back."
