"Dimmer goals and reduced racing" is Live In The Dream's strategy

With sprint sensation Live In The Dream, Adam West hopes to win a Nunthorpe repeat.

Last season, at the height of summer, the chestnut gave connections a day to remember by winning the York Group One 28-1.

The gelding advanced from handicaps to finish second in the Palace House and third in the Temple Stakes, and that victory was the culmination of an overall great season.

Following his well-known Nunthorpe victory and securing a trip to Santa Anita for the Breeders' Cup, he reappeared after a layoff and lost by just a length in a Listed event at Deauville.

He had placed fourth in the Woodford Stakes at Keeneland as a preparation race, and he would go on to win the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint despite losing by a length and a quarter.

He will probably aim for the Knavesmire feature once more this season in an attempt to secure a spot in the Breeders' Cup; but, as he has established himself at the highest level, his campaign will prioritise quality over quantity.

West mentioned: “It took him a bit of time to unwind from the Breeders’ Cup, he was physically quite tired from the journey on the way back”.

“We split the season last year to get more racing out of him, but now we’re hoping for loftier targets and less racing – obviously we can’t go to Lingfield and Pontefract anymore!

“The main aim will be the Nunthorpe and he’s probably going to be campaigned with that in mind, hopefully with the added bonus of going to America.”
