Daryl Jacob Cleared for Return at Exeter as Farewell Season Resumes

Daryl Jacob has received medical clearance to resume riding at Exeter on Thursday, marking his return to action in what is his final season before retirement.

Jacob endured a challenging year, breaking his collarbone in March and missing several months of competition. Upon his return in October, he reached a significant milestone by riding his 1,000th career winner last month. However, just days later, he was sidelined again following a freak collarbone injury sustained while schooling at Henry de Bromhead’s yard in Ireland.

With the all-clear now given, Jacob will partner Issam for Tom Symonds in the Southwest Rail Solutions Handicap Hurdle at Exeter.

“I’m delighted to be returning to action at Exeter on Thursday,” Jacob told Sporting Life.

“When I first broke my collarbone, I was determined to get back before Christmas, and it’s a big relief to have passed the medical tests on Tuesday.

“I’d like to thank Dr Jerry Hill, my surgeon Angus Robertson, and the team at Oaksey House for their tireless work during my rehab.

“It’s been frustrating to spend more time on the sidelines, but I’m fully focused on the season ahead and excited to get back into the swing of things.

“I have some fantastic rides lined up on both sides of the Irish Sea over the festive period, and I hope to be back among the winners—hopefully starting with Issam at Exeter.

“With so much top-class racing coming up in the next few days, the timing is perfect. I’m just hoping for a clear run and a bit of luck as I see out my final campaign.”
