Cromwell is optimistic about Mighty Eriu's chances at Newmarket

Mighty Eriu, the Royal Ascot runner-up, is set to compete in the bet365-sponsored Duchess of Cambridge Stakes at Newmarket for a chance at big-race honours. Trainer Gavin Cromwell is confident in her abilities after a strong performance at Ascot, where she finished second at odds of 50-1. Qatar Racing has shown faith in her potential by acquiring her before the Queen Mary Stakes.

Cromwell is optimistic about Mighty Eriu's chances in the upcoming Group Two race, despite facing tough competition. He is particularly hopeful for good weather conditions to aid her performance over the six-furlong distance. Another contender from his stable, Fiery Lucy, is also expected to put up a good fight after a convincing win at Fairyhouse.

Contenders like Heavens Gate from Aidan O'Brien's yard and Mountain Breeze from Charlie Appleby's team add to the competitiveness of the race. Jockeys like Ryan Moore will be back on board some of these talented horses, aiming for a strong finish. Other notable entries include Maw Lam, trained by Adrian Nicholls, and Bountiful, who impressed at Carlisle under George Boughey's guidance.

The Duchess of Cambridge Stakes promises to be an exciting and unpredictable race, with various contenders vying for glory. As trainers prepare their horses for the challenge ahead, fans can look forward to a thrilling spectacle on the July Course at Newmarket.
