Star sprinter Lazzat will skip the Prix de la Forêt at ParisLongchamp to prepare for a trip to Australia next month.
Undefeated in six starts this season, the three-year-old, trained by Jerome Reynier, recently clinched his first Group One victory in the Prix Maurice de Gheest.
While he had the option to race in the Forêt during Arc weekend, he will instead begin his quarantine in preparation for the Golden Eagle, a lucrative race worth 10 million Australian dollars, on November 2 at Rosehill.
“He’s set to run in the Golden Eagle in Sydney, so he won’t participate in the Forêt,” Reynier confirmed.
“Tomorrow morning, he’ll head to Newmarket to start his quarantine. He’ll remain there before flying to Sydney on October 13, arriving on the 15th. He’ll be released from quarantine on the 29th and will race on November 2. It’s quite exciting. It will be a change of environment, and he’ll need to adapt to many variables, but if he arrives safe and happy, I believe he’ll have a great chance. He’s one of the best sprinters in Europe and remains unbeaten in six starts, so it’s an exciting prospect and a challenging opportunity.”
