Competitors in the Dubai World Cup are beaten to the ground by Laurel River

Laurel River dominated the Dubai World Cup, winning by a significant margin. The victory was achieved under the guidance of trainer Bhupat Seemar and jockey Tadhg O'Shea from Cork.

Having previously received training from Bob Baffert, the six-year-old horse owned by Juddmonte was attempting the 10-furlong distance for the first time. However, with only two furlongs remaining, it became clear that the horse had secured victory in the race.

Derma Sotogake, Ushba Tesoro, Newgate, and Kabirkhan were the centre of attention before the race, while Laurel River managed to fly under the radar.

Opting to increase his distance, despite a convincing victory in a Group Three race by nearly seven lengths over a mile in his previous outing, seemed like a bold choice.

O'Shea had complete control over the race, taking the lead early on and extending their advantage without any challenge. The 9-1 outsider continued to widen the gap, leaving the competition far behind.

In the last stretch, he maintained a significant lead of 10 lengths. Although Laurel River understandably tired towards the end, he finished well ahead of Ushba Tesoro and Senor Buscador.

The victorious trainer expressed gratitude to Juddmonte and His Royal Highness for entrusting them with the horse. I had concerns about their speed, but Tadhg managed to calculate the correct fractions and also took a moment to catch his breath.

"Winning this race brings an incredible sense of accomplishment, but observing the horse's activities in the mornings left me wondering about its potential."

"His lineage boasts an abundance of endurance, while his training regimen was truly exceptional."

O'Shea exclaimed: "Let me tell you, I have never experienced the sheer excellence of riding a horse quite like him." Winning the Dubai World Cup was beyond anything I could have imagined. It truly feels like a dream come true.

"His actions resembled that of a pony; he collided with the gates and executed every task from the forefront, leaving us astounded." He provided himself with ample opportunity to achieve the desired distance, which resulted in an incredible sensation.
