George Boughey is currently focusing on preparing Chic Colombine for the French 1000 Guineas after her remarkable comeback at Saint-Cloud last weekend.
During her impressive two-year-old campaign, Chic Colombine achieved great success by winning four consecutive races within three months. She concluded her season with a fourth-place finish in the Group Three Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket in October.
For her first race as a three-year-old, Chic Colombine was sent to France to compete in a Listed race. Under the guidance of jockey Billy Loughnane, she triumphed with an impressive six-length victory. Boughey is eagerly anticipating what the rest of the season holds for her.
“She was good, I think the fashion of her win was a bit surprising but it didn’t surprise me that she won,” said the Newmarket handler. “She’s done as well as anything over the winter, she was a frame of a horse last year and she’s going to go back to France for the French 1000 Guineas trial – the Prix de la Grotte at ParisLongchamp.”
