Cheltenham Festival Preview: Ruby Walsh's Analysis of Mares' Hurdle

Ruby Walsh predicts Lossiemouth as Willie Mullins' leading contender in the Close Brothers Mares' Hurdle at Cheltenham. Yet, for betting, Walsh suggests a more valuable option outside Mullins' yard.

He said, "Lossiemouth and Gala Marceau are in form. They should race in the next few weeks. Both are ready."

Walsh mentioned potential races for Gala Marceau and Ashroe Diamond at Doncaster. Both horses are in good form. They have entries in the Irish Champion Hurdle and Quevega Hurdle in Punchestown. He outlined five racing options for the three horses.

Discussing the horses' prospects, Walsh emphasized Gala Marceau's stamina. He questioned Lossiemouth's staying power, given her speedy pedigree. Despite uncertainties, he views Lossiemouth as a strong contender.

Walsh dismissed Lossiemouth as an ante-post bet at 5/2. He highlighted Telmesomethinggirl as a promising option at 33/1.

Walsh cited Telmesomethinggirl's unsatisfactory performance in chase races. He also mentioned her potential in hurdles. Despite her recent hurdles performance, Walsh sees potential for a significant showing at a high value.
