Charyn's next port of call is Prix Jacques le Marois

Roger Varian reports that Charyn is in peak form ahead of Sunday’s Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville, aiming to continue his impressive season.

The four-year-old has enjoyed a successful campaign, following a Listed win in the Doncaster Mile with a Group Two victory at Sandown and a strong performance in the Lockinge at Newbury. He then secured his first Group One win in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot, finishing comfortably ahead of Docklands.

Owned by Nurlan Bizakov and sired by Dark Angel, Charyn will look to add another top-level victory in France. Varian told Sky Sports Racing, “We’re very happy with Charyn and everything is set for Sunday. He’s matured well this year and seems to have reached his full potential on the track.”

Varian praised Charyn's development, stating that last year's campaign helped him progress, and he has clearly reached a new level this year. Winning at Doncaster in March was crucial, and he has only improved since then. Reflecting on Charyn's Royal Ascot victory, Varian highlighted its significance, especially for Nurlan, a long-time supporter of European racing. Looking ahead, they chose to skip the Sussex Stakes in favour of the Prix Jacques le Marois, with Varian expressing confidence in Charyn’s ability to handle the trip to France despite the strong competition, including past winners Inspiral and Haatem. He emphasised he wouldn’t trade Charyn for any other horse.
