Charyn's future looks promising and exciting for racing enthusiasts

Charyn, a product of the proven sire Dark Angel, has emerged as a top miler this season. Dark Angel, who raced only as a juvenile, is enjoying a stellar season in his 17th year at stud. While Charyn's debut Group 1 win in the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot was impressive, his subsequent victory in the Group 1 Prix Jacques le Marois was considered even more significant, showcasing his dominance in a competitive field. A potential clash with Sheikh Obaid’s Classic winner and leading three-year-old is anticipated, but for now, Charyn deserves celebration for his achievements.

Charyn’s pedigree suggests he might have been expected to shine as a juvenile, given his sire's and dam's backgrounds. However, he debuted in August after the Royal Ascot two-year-old races and won impressively. Despite a winless three-year-old season, he has excelled this year, with his only defeat in the Group 1 Lockinge being an anomaly.

Dark Angel’s offspring have shown they peak later, with several, including Battaash and Art Power, reaching their best in their later years. Charyn’s success further highlights Dark Angel’s ability to produce top-class milers. Although Charyn was precocious, his pedigree, with a full brother to Group 1 winner Wings Of War and a lineage full of Stakes-winning juveniles, suggests his progression was expected.

Notably, Charyn's dam, Futoon, is a useful sprinter, and Kodiac’s role as a damsire has proven influential, with Charyn becoming Kodiac’s second Group 1-winning offspring after The Platinum Queen. Kodiac mares have successfully bred with various sires, adding to the intrigue of their potential.

Charyn’s pedigree and performance over a mile make him a standout stallion prospect. With the Group 1 Prix de Moulin potentially on the horizon, the colt’s future looks promising and exciting for racing enthusiasts.
