Camino Rock, trained by Mouse Morris, delivered a fine performance to win the concluding three-mile handicap hurdle at Kilbeggan, capitalising on a smart run up the rail to take the lead before the final hurdle.
The race saw multiple changes in the lead during the first half, with Camino Rock briefly taking charge. After Cruisin Susan led briefly following the seventh flight, she relinquished the lead to Camino Rock, who was expertly guided by Gavin Brouder.
The 8/1 shot asserted himself strongly and finished well in the final stages, securing a two-and-a-quarter length victory over the 5/2 favourite Royal Cave.
This win was a much-needed boost for Morris, marking his first victory since November, especially after For Fear Of Frost suffered a fatal injury in the preceding race.
Morris commented: "Camino Rock had some solid performances last season, but our horses haven't been running well since Christmas. He seems better suited for fences, given how he jumps hurdles, and he looks like he’ll stay all day there."
