In division one of the mile handicap at Naas, Calamint easily defeated an extensive field.
She had not run since switching to Adrian Murray, and a furlong and a half down, she tanked to the lead under David Egan.
She was soon shaken up by Egan, and in the last furlong, she pulled clear. She won the race at 33/1, a margin of four and a half lengths. At 9/1, Stormy Jenn ranked second, followed by Captured (33/1) and Naisiun (13/2).
Murray said: “She came to me about three weeks ago. I was quietly confident as she’d been working very well and she was bucking and squealing in the stableyard, so I thought today could be the day.”
On her tenth start in her career, this was her first triumph.
