Byrnes Triumphs Once More as Aodhan May Prevails

Charles Byrnes' homebred Aodhan May (11/4f) clinched another victory today at Punchestown, adding to her recent triumph at Navan.

The talented mare, under the guidance of jockey Philip Byrnes, claimed the victory in Punchestown's Book Your Group Deal Today Handicap Hurdle.

Aodhan May, a descendant of Byrnes' early runner Barnearrig Lass back in November 1994, sealed her third career win today. She had previously stunned the crowd with a 16/1 victory at Navan on February 11.

Reflecting on the race, Byrnes senior remarked,

"She coped well with the ground conditions and carried a favourable weight. Philip rode her well, keeping the tactics straightforward".

He added,

"Her jumping ability is exceptional, a real asset. We intend to continue racing her as long as the current ground conditions prevail. Due to previous injury concerns, we are cautious about running her on firmer ground".
