Bradsell Will Soon Begin Stallion Career

Jockey Hollie Doyle praised the exceptional Bradsell as he prepares for his final race at the Breeders’ Cup before retiring to stand as a stallion at the National Stud in Newmarket. Trained by Archie Watson, Bradsell has been a remarkable performer throughout his career, with Doyle riding him in nearly all of his races. He earned major victories, including two Royal Ascot wins and a stunning triumph in the Nunthorpe Stakes this season.

Owned by Victorious Racing, Bradsell’s impressive resume spans three seasons, beginning with a win in the Coventry Stakes as a two-year-old. He returned to Royal Ascot the following year, where he narrowly defeated Highfield Princess in the King’s Stand Stakes. Despite an injury earlier this year that threatened his racing career, Watson and his team expertly brought Bradsell back to top form. His comeback included a victory in France, followed by a dominant performance at York in the Nunthorpe Stakes, and another Group One win in the Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh.

Doyle expressed her admiration: "He’s been an unreal horse, winning races like the Coventry, King’s Stand, and Nunthorpe. It will be sad to see him go, but he owes no one anything, and I wish him the best as a stallion."

Bradsell will make his final appearance in the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint before retiring. National Stud CEO Anna Kerr said, “We are excited to welcome Bradsell, a standout sprinter, to the National Stud and look forward to his stallion career.”
