Bob Champion has continued his commitment to fundraising for cancer research
Bob Champion, known for his victory in the 1981 Grand National aboard Aldaniti, has continued his commitment to fundraising for cancer research. Despite his own battle with the disease, Champion has raised over £15 million for The Bob Champion Cancer Trust.
Now, Champion is teaming up with Alex Embiricos, daughter of Aldaniti’s owners, to lead a 100-mile sponsored ride across the Sussex Downs from July 18-23. The ride will begin at trainer Chris Gordon’s Twyford yard and pass through the stable of Nick Gifford, son of Aldaniti’s trainer Josh.
Champion will take part in a ride and fun day on July 21, with the group reaching Plumpton racecourse the following day. Sky Sports Racing presenter Hayley Moore, along with her sister-in-law and niece, will join the group for the final leg of the ride.
Champion expressed his excitement for the event, stating, “I’m really excited to be back down on the Souths Downs close to Findon, where it all began.”
