Ralph Beckett’s Bluestocking has been added to the field for Sunday’s Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe after her owners, Juddmonte, paid a €120,000 supplement fee. Following two Group One victories this season, including a win at the same course and distance in the Prix Vermeille, and a strong second-place finish in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Juddmonte saw this as an opportunity worth taking.
The prestigious pink, green, and white Juddmonte silks have already triumphed in the Arc with champions like Rainbow Quest, Dancing Brave, Rail Link, Workforce, and Enable (twice). Another victory would make Juddmonte the most successful owner in the race’s history, surpassing Marcel Boussac. Last year, Beckett's Westover finished second in Juddmonte’s colours.
Barry Mahon, Juddmonte’s European racing manager, expressed excitement about Bluestocking’s form: "Ralph was pleased with her condition after this morning’s canter and tests. It’s a tough race, but she always gives her best, and we’re looking forward to Sunday."
With 18 contenders remaining, Aidan O’Brien has withdrawn Opera Singer, though Auguste Rodin still holds an entry ahead of Thursday’s final declarations.
