Belloccio is set to race in the Ebor

Belloccio is being considered for the Ebor following his victory in the Copper Horse Handicap at Royal Ascot, having missed the Galway Festival.

Previously trained by David Menuisier, the six-year-old grey was acquired by Anthony Bromley for Thurloe Thoroughbreds and transferred to Willie Mullins at Closutton. He made a successful debut for Mullins with a nine-length win in a two-mile maiden hurdle at Punchestown in May.

Connections opted to return him to the Flat for Royal Ascot, where he delivered a second consecutive Copper Horse win for Mullins, following Vauban's triumph in 2023.

Although an initial plan was to race over hurdles at Galway, it was abandoned to allow Belloccio time to recover from Ascot. Future options on the Flat include the Ebor and the Irish St Leger.

James Stafford of Thurloe Thoroughbreds mentioned that Belloccio is entered in both the Ebor and the Irish St Leger, but his next race has not yet been confirmed. He is in good health but required some time to recover from Ascot, which is why he missed the Galway Festival. He has been given a bit of rest to recuperate.
