Beckett targets Qipco following the defeat at York

Ralph Beckett is setting his sights on Qipco British Champions Day for You Got To Me after the filly's defeat by Content in the Pertemps Network Yorkshire Oaks. The Valmont and Newsells Park Stud-owned filly, who triumphed in the Irish Oaks, could only manage second at York as Aidan O’Brien’s Galileo offspring finished strongest.

Despite a strong campaign since winning the Lingfield Oaks Trial, You Got To Me was outperformed by Content, who showed a strong finish on the Knavesmire. Beckett acknowledged the better performance of the winner but noted that You Got To Me has shown improvement in her last two outings.

Looking ahead, Beckett is considering a run in the Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day, though other options are still being evaluated. He was encouraged by You Got To Me's improved demeanour and performance.

John Gosden, meanwhile, was pleased to see Emily Upjohn regain her form after a disappointing run in the Nassau Stakes. The trainer, who works with his son Thady, noted that Emily Upjohn's performance was solid, despite giving weight to improving three-year-olds. He highlighted that the Irish Oaks winner and runner-up maintained their positions at York, reflecting the quality of the form.

Gosden plans to target the Prix Vermeille at ParisLongchamp in mid-September for Emily Upjohn, aiming to capitalise on her return to form. He also mentioned that Queen Of The Pride, who didn’t handle the pace well, will be stepped up in trip for the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster, a venue where her mother previously won the St Leger.
